Anybody who feels like throwing up a message board without actually building it can buy UBB for like $89 or someshit. Check out almost any of the other automotive forums and that's what they are running: [ http://www.supraforums.com ] [ http://www.ls1.com ] [ http://www.3si.org/vbb/index.php ] etc, etc. Basically they list ONLY thread tops on the main page which they call TOPICS. When you click into a message you see ALL replies on one page, one after the other. It's pretty much impossible to tell who was replying to what in the thread. It has no concept of self-moderation, i.e. VtD. It has no concept of archives, vis a vis 800,000 messages which is the size of the tt.net archives now. It has smileys everywhere which is a pain in the ass. It certainly has no concept of configurability so you can see the forum YOUR way a la themes/views/# msgs per page/top down or bottom up/etc, etc.
